October is Black History Month and we celebrate this every year at Sinai. Mrs Gough has led KS1 and KS2 assemblies as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Black people in British society. Across the school the children will be exploring key themes – such as fairness, culture and art, success and achievement , racism, immigration and discrimination and perseverance. They will also be learning about significant people including Rosa Parks, Bob Marley, Mary Seacole, Jessie Owens and Martin Luther King. All learning will tie into ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ the overall theme of Black History Month 2024 – ensuring that Black British history is told with respect, dignity and accuracy.
