This morning Mrs Lipshaw led a special Remembrance Day assembly for years 1-6.

The children learned about the outbreak of WW1 and Battle of Somme which lasted 141 days and resulted in many soldiers not returning home.

She also spoke about Armistice Day and the end of the War and the happiness and relief this brought. The significance of the poppy was so explained.

The children all fell silent to remember the lost soldiers from both WW1 and WW2 and ended assembly with a rendition of God Save The King.

“When you go home, tell them of us and say for their tomorrow we gave our today.” John Maxwell Edmonds. #BritishValues
