Today, our Year 6 students had the incredible opportunity to welcome three engineers from the renowned engineering firm ARUP. During the visit, the children learned about the exciting path to becoming an engineer and the importance of sustainability in modern design. The ARUP team shared fascinating insights into their work on some of the world’s most iconic structures, including the Sydney Opera House and the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. To top it off, the students put their newfound knowledge to the test by designing and constructing their own sturdy structures using marshmallows and spaghetti—a hands-on activity that sparked creativity and teamwork. This linked to their recent topic of Bridges in Design and Technology.
