This morning our year 6 children had the privilege of hearing from Holocaust survivor Jacques Weisser BEM.
Jacques was born in Antwerp in 1942. In the summer of 1942 his father was deported to labour camps in northern France and in the September, when he was just seven months old, his mother was deported to Auschwitz and he sadly never saw her again. Jacques was rescued by an unknown individual and brought to a children’s home for orphans.
Through a series of miracles he survived the war. His is a remarkable story of luck and survival against the odds.
He urged our children to never be a bystander, told them to always be proud of their heritage and to all do acts of chessed, of loving kindness.
Thank you Jacques for coming to Sinai and speaking to our children.
